7 Pillars of Mindfulness

Hi everyone!

We hope that you are doing well

Did you know that our class 21/7 was created around the 7 Pillars of Mindfulness? When we sat down to create class number 17 we wanted something that really encompassed mindfulness. Something that included even more mindfulness awareness than our other classes (we already had lots of affirmations, gratitude, mindful minute). We brainstormed ideas and landed on the 7 Pillars of Mindfulness, created by leading mindfulness professor Jon Kabat-Zinn. We were also intrigued by the idea that the number 7 is often considered a powerful number in many belief systems and that it's often said that it takes 21 days to break a bad habit (although this number varies based on who you talk to or what study you read!). Either way, we knew that this information would open up conversation about mindfulness so we created a class that allowed us to communicate in more detail how mindfulness can transform your life, or how you can try to be more mindful each day - especially within class

What are the 7 Pillars of Mindfulness?

Letting Go
Beginners Mind

Over the next 7 weeks we will be sharing what each of the pillars mean to us and will give examples of how mindfulness has changed our lives for the better. We really do believe that practising mindfulness (meditation or otherwise) every single day helps to improve mental health and well-being. It's why we created SMASH London! We wanted to create high energy classes that had elements of mindfulness and mental health awareness within them and, thanks to you, we think we've succeeded!

Sam will be starting next week with Letting Go but, in the mean time, why not go over the pillars yourself and consider what they mean to you...

Have a great weekend!

Sam and Ash
